Search Committee Interest Form

We are inviting students and ambassadors to express interest in serving on a search committee for one of the open positions.  The search committee members are selected by the hiring authority following consultation with MCDA staff and the Vice President for Student Affairs.

The role of a search committee member includes:

  1. Reviewing the job description and developing a rubric of core skills, knowledge and experiences that matches the job description and functions (completed at a search committee meeting) (estimated time commitment: 1-1/2 hours)
  2. Reviewing all applicants according to the rubric (prior to a search committee meeting) (estimated time commitment: 4-6 hours)
  3. Working with the rest of the search committee to narrow that applicants for phone/Skype interviews (at search committee meeting) (estimated time commitment: 1-1/2 hours)
  4. Participate in all of the phone/Skype interviews or as many as possible (search committee) (estimated time commitment: 4-6 hours)
  5. Upon the conclusion of the interviews, narrow the list for on-campus interviews, usually 3 people but it may be 4 (search committee) (estimated time commitment: 1-1/2 hours)
  6. Participate in the on-campus interviews and assist in some of the logistics (estimated time commitment: 3-4 hours for each candidate)
  7. Review all of the feedback provided from all of the evaluations; discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate and summarize for the hiring authority. (prior to and in the final search committee meeting) (estimated time commitment: 2 hours)

The hiring authority will conduct reference checks of any and all candidates that are recommended for hire and will ultimately make the hiring decision.  All search reviews and committee discussions are to be confidential and not shared outside of the committee.

The deadline to express interest in serving on a search committee is Sunday, March 19 at 11:59 p.m.
